Eagles continue to fly high, head to third round



BERRYVILLE, Va.-  The Clarke County Eagles moved into the third round of the VHSL 2A Football playoffs with a 47-0 shutout Friday night over Bull Run District rival George Mason.

The Eagles (11-1) took the opening kickoff and scored on the first play from scrimmage as Jaxon Ottobre rambled around the left end for the first of his three scores.

Ottobre led all rushers with 139 yards on 10 carries.

Jordon Turner added 80 yards on 9 carries and threw a touchdown pass to Brett McDonald. Turner was 2 of 5 for 59 yards with McDonald making both catches for the Eagles.

Matt Dang added 80 yards on 15 carries, and Daniel Braithwaite added 77 yards on 9 carries and scored a touchdown.

The Eagles defense held the Mustangs (8-4) to 77 yards total offense and snapped a four game win streak.

The top seed Goochland lost on Friday so the Eagles now move to the top seed and will play third seed Robert E. Lee this Friday at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium in Berryville. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM A win against Lee would secure the Region 2A Championship game at   the Felt next week.

Robert E. Lee comes in to the Felt with a record of 9-3 riding a 7 game win streak after defeating East Rockingham last week 56-21.

Eagles wrap up home season with win over Warren County

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles wrapped up their 2015 regular home season on Senior night with a convincing 55-0 win over Bull Run District foe the Warren County Wildcats.

Jordon Turner rushed for two scores and passed for one in the victory. Hunter Rogers returned to the lineup and scored twice, once on the ground and was on the end of Turner's TD pass. Rogers also went over the 1,000 yard mark rushing for the season.

Matt Dang hit paydirt twice on the ground to give the Eagles a 41-0 halftime lead.

Jacob Parrot and Cole Lawson each scored a rushing TD for the Eagles in the second half.

The Eagles stingy defense was led by Sam White, Michael Fields, Julius Grant, Brett McDonald, Bryan Wallace and Will Roper.

OL/LB Josh Wallace was awarded the 4th Annual Malloy Ford Unsung Hero after the game.

The Eagles will travel to Madison County next Friday and a win will clinch their third consecutive Bull Run District Championship.
