Christmas is in his first year back at Jefferson Forest High School after having previously coached at the school from 1988-97 and leading the team to two state championships in back to back years (1992-93). Christmas spent the last 13 seasons coaching in Gainesville, Ga. where his team won 106 games and twice reached the class AAAA semifinals. Jefferson Forest is 10-0 so far this season.
Jefferson Forest High School Athletic Director John Otey believes that Christmas' esteemed leadership abilities have contributed heavily to the team's success this season. "Coach Christmas has an enormous amount of positive character and is a role model for how he wants his players to act on and off the field," said Otey. "He is well respected amongst all of his student-athletes." The Jefferson Forest football team works closely with a local church every season, dedicating their time to helping the church with their "5th Quarter Carnival" fundraising event.
Redskins High School Coach of the Week The Redskins High School Coach of the Week program is designed to recognize and reward excellence in high school football coaching. Each week during the 2014 high school football season, the Redskins will select one area high school head football coach as the Redskins High School Coach of the Week.
The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment toward promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes, overall community involvement and overall team performance and record. Each of the coaches chosen throughout the high school season will receive a $1,000 donation from the NFL Youth Football Fund to their football program and a framed certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden and Redskins President and General Manager Bruce Allen.
