Q's Hornet Buzz

September 26, 2014

WINCHESTER, Va. – Sophomore Qlyl Middelijn is in his first year of blogging about the football team. This week, in his fourth edition of the "Huddle Buzz", Q recaps a big victory

this past Saturday night.

Shutting out Ferrum 45-20 is a massive confidence boost for the team. We battled long and hard for 60 minutes last Saturday night against a tough opponent. The game didn't come down to what Ferrum did or how the referees officiated the game, it came down to what we needed to do to win.
We prepared physically and mentally for the game. Sophomore Deshon Brown caught two touchdown passes and freshman Josh White was named ODAC defensive Player of the Week after snagging two interceptions.
The offense produced 552 yards with 420 on the ground. The last time SU Football produced this amount of offense was back in 2004 in the championship-clinching contest against Methodist.
The Hornets came out hungry and won at home.
This week is our bye week and our main focus as a team has been to take care of our bodies. Coach Yoder emphasizes the importance of maintaining our health - he encourages us to visit the athletic trainers and get any and everything done to ensure we will be 100% for our rivalry game against Bridgewater next Saturday night.
Bridgewater will not be taken lightly, as we have an extra week of time to prepare for them. This is a break for us because BC had its bye last week and will only have one week to prepare for us.
This will be our first ODAC game and we encourage everyone to come out and show your support. This will be a tough battle but all battles are tough. We will come out victorious.
Go Hornets!
