Washington’s woes continue at the hands of San Francisco

LANDOVER, MD (11/26/13)- The Washington Redskins' struggles continued Nov. 25 at FedEx Field as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Redskins, 27-6.

“That was the toughest defense we’ve gone against this year,” Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said. “They did an excellent job of not letting us get into a rhythm to run the ball or throw the ball.”

Washington was limited to 190 net yards for the game, 100 rushing and only 90 yards passing. This also marked the first time in Robert Griffin III’s college and professional career that his offense did not score a touchdown.

“Yes, it’s frustrating. We’re frustrated. Everyone’s tired of losing – us, fans, the media, everybody," Griffin said. “You have to have the right guys in the huddle in there with you and I know they’ll keep fighting with me and I’ll fight with those guys any day. It’s frustrating, but we have to move on to the next one.”

Game of the Week to return with special coverage of Clarke Co vs. Brunswick

BLUEMONT, VA (11/28/13)- Clarke County Sports Editor Moe Murphy has announced that the Clarke County Sports Game of the Week will return to the air for a special playoff edition this Saturday as the undefeated Clarke County Eagles host the Brunswick Bulldogs in the third round of the VHSL Region 2A Playoffs.

"We are very excited about reviving the Game of the Week as Clarke hosts their third consecutive playoff game at the Felt." Murphy said.

The Clarke County Sports Game of the Week was produced from 2007-2011 and featured game highlights and post game interviews with a studio wrap up. Clarke County home games and a variety of games in the area when Clarke was on the road was the format.

Other media obligations forced Clarke County Sports to cancel the production starting in the 2012 season. As things have worked out, Clarke County Sports has been present at the last two games and will be at the Felt on Saturday for the game.

Clarke County 41 R.E. Lee (Staunton) 25 VHSL 2A Region Football Playoffs

BERRYVILLE, VA (11/22/13)  The Clarke County Eagles improved their record to 12-0, 2-0 in the playoffs with a come from behind victory over the R. E. Lee Leeman before at packed house at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium.

The Eagles fell behind early and trailed the Leemen 13-7 at the half. The first time this year the Eagles trailed at the half.

The Eagles will host Brunswick Bulldogs (11-2) in a showdown at "the Felt" on Saturday Nov. 30. Kick off is set for 2:00PM.

Woodgrove defeats Loudoun County in the 4A Playoffs

PURCELLVILLE, VA- (11/16/13)- The Woodgrove Wolverines revenged earlier losses to the Loudoun County Raiders with a 45-7 win on Saturday.

Running back Josh Sweet rushed for 330 yards on 42 carries and scored 5 touchdowns.o

Washington Redskins greats recieve another shot at glory

LANDOVER, MD (11-3-13)-The Washington Redskins held their second annual Alumni Homecoming Game on Nov. 3 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. Members of the 1987 Super Bowl XXII championship team were honored in a ceremony during halftime of Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

“This is the type of event you can never get enough of,” Redskins running back Larry Brown said. “I am enjoying it very much.” Brown played from 1969-1976 and was the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in the 1972 season.

More than 100 alumni assembled on the field for a group picture and then spent the next hour catching up on old times with each other.

“It’s a great feeling to be back and see so many of the guys you played with,” Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams said. “This homecoming and alumni weekend is a great thing for all of us.”
